Current Weather Highlight
Last week climate scientists reported the collapse of the Larsen B Ice Shelf in Antarctica. The Larsen B contains 720 billion tons of ice and broke apart after 50 years of sharply warming temperatures on the Antarctic Peninsula. Senior Researcher, Tim Naish from New Zealand, warns that the Larsens collapse could indicate the overall instability of Antarticas largest ice shelf, which is roughly the size of France. If average global temperatures continue to rise, many more ice shelfs could become vulnerable.
