Female health involves personal body wellness
Mr. Morella has it all wrong! While I'd like to think that he made the effort to attend the Conference on Women's Health and Wellness, I highly doubt it. He forgets to mention that women's health and wellness are in complete relation to a woman's body. He deems Pat Califia not one to uphold women's health and wellness. Considering that he was a woman who so positively felt that she needed to become a man, his FTM (female-to-male) transition was a keen example of her own personal bodily health and wellness. More so, it was crucial to have such a speaker highlight such a tabooed notion in society. To be able to discuss all facets of bodily importance is highly positive. Furthermore, Califia's mentions of sadomasochism are merely fantasies that may or may not be acted out. If acted out, you better believe some semblance of consent has been reached. Finally, the criticism of his support of pedophiles is misplaced. Having been raised by right-wing Mormon society, Califia knows how repressive these folks can be. He is only trying to liberate children from such experiences. It is not even worth the print on this column to delve into Morella's unreasonable and incoherent closing statement about "aborting little girls." He should only know that it is a woman's right to choose, as it is her body, which was the lifeblood of the conference. Jonathan Grindell
