Today's University Park forecast
mixed precip Happy Valley will see another gasp of winter-like weather today. An upper level system will touch off some snow showers that will change over to rain showers tonight as temperatures rebound slightly. Low pressure moves south of our region tomorrow causing more precipitation into Wednesday before this disturbance finally moves off the coast. Conditions improve for Thursday with High pressure to our south lending itself to more pleasant conditions to end the week.

On This Date In... 1987

Heavy rain left rivers and streams swollen in Kansas and Nebraska, causing considerable crop damage due to flooding of agricultural areas. The Saline River near Wilson Reservoir in central Kansas reached its highest level since 1951. March rainfall at Grand Island NE exceeded their previous record of 5.57 inches. -- (The National Weather Summary).


Current Weather Highlight

A snowstorm that marked the arrival of spring in Maine left thousands of customers without electricity on Thursday.
The storm dumped more than a foot of thick, heavy snow in Down East regions, and lesser amounts across the rest of the state. The snow began tapering off by the morning, and parts of the state expected more snow by evening.
At the peak, 25,245 Central Maine Power customers and 5,000 Bangor Hydro-Electric Co. customers were without electricity Thursday morning. -- (Associated Press)
