The Penn State Board of Trustees approved the rates at its meeting Friday. Under the new rates, a typical undergraduate double room will be $1,455 per semester, an increase of $115 over this year's rate.

Ballot positions were drawn Friday for Undergraduate Student Government, Association of Residence Hall Students and University Park Allocation Committee elections to take place Wed., March 27.

Elected student representatives encouraged Penn State's Board of Trustees to keep students' needs at the forefront of all decisions during its meeting last week.

The Penn State women's basketball coach saw her team utilize The Bryce Jordan Center as a deadly weapon last night, as the Lady Lions won their second round NCAA Tournament game 96-79 over Florida International.


Few of the young Lions could see past their dismal 9-7 record at the time, but sophomore Kelly Mazzante said her goal was to reach the Sweet 16.


For once, the reporters weren't exclusively huddled around the nations' leading scorer, Kelly Mazzante, even though she dropped 32 points.

The Penn State men's gymnastics team bid goodbye to captain Adam Benas at Rec Hall Saturday night after it soundly defeated No. 15 Army.


It was a matter of opponents delaying the inevitable for the Penn State men's volleyball team last weekend.

The Penn State women's gymnastics team tied its lowest score of the season, a 192.75, losing to West Virginia, who scored a 196.275 Saturday at Rec Hall. The score was the Mountaineers' highest of the season.

During Senior Night, Weiss was honored as a hard-working gymnast whose contributions made her a continuing inspiration to her teammates.

Attacker Colleen O'Hara scored four second-half goals, including the game winner, and midfielder B.J. Lucey added two more as the No. 12 Nittany Lions women's lacrosse team (2-2, 0-1 ALC) defeated No. 19 William and Mary (1-4) 10-8 yesterday in Holuba Hall.

The No. 13 Penn State men's lacrosse team (3-2, 0-1 ECAC) rallied for two goals in a 30-second span in the fourth quarter on Saturday, but could not get any closer, falling to No. 16 Cornell, 11-9.


When the Penn State baseball team arrived in Richmond, Va., Saturday, freshman pitcher Josh Palm thought he'd have another day to prepare for his second career start.


On Friday, in temperatures balmy for mid-March, the Lady Lions destroyed West Virginia outdoors at the Sarni Tennis Center, 6-1. On Saturday though, play was moved inside due to the deteriorating weather and Penn State dropped a tough 6-0 decision to Iowa.

Yesterday, the Pollock Rec Room was decorated as a shrine to the late rapper/actor/poet Tupac Shakur, as Groove Phi Groove got ready to start its tribute to him.

The Bryce Jordan Center announced Friday that St. Louis-based hip hop artist Nelly will be coming to State College at 8 p.m on April 19. Nelly will also be performing with special guest the St. Lunatics, who he has been playing with since the early 90s.
