Folk group, narrator to entertain Juniata

As part of the Juniata College Artist Series, folk group Simple Gifts will perform with storyteller Charlotte Blake Alston at 7 p.m. tomorrow in Oller Hall's Rosenberger Auditorium on the Juniata campus.

Singer, composer and storyteller Charlotte Blake Alston works in the traditions of the storytellers and historians of West Africa.

Her performances are based on myths and legends, as well as African-American poetry and songs. She also tends to invite active participation by the audience.

Linda Littleton, Rachel Hall and Karen Hirshon form the folk music group Simple Gifts.

Klezmer, Gaelic, gypsy and Balkan traditions are just a few of the styles of ethnic folk music they specialize in during their shows.

General admission tickets for single performances are $15. Single-show tickets for seniors over age 65 and children under age 18 are $8. Juniata College students are admitted free with student ID.

Tickets and information about the Juniata College Artist Series are available by calling 814-641-3333.
