Today's University Park forecast
mostly sunny Cloudy skies will blanket Happy Valley today as a week storm system pushes eastward. Expect a threat of showers late in the day and continuing overnight. Thursday looks to be the best day of the week with ample sunshine and mild temperatures. Toward week’s end another weak low pressure area will provide a risk of showers Friday and Saturday. Unusually warm temperatures will continue for the remainder of the school week.

Highlight

Menacing winds and heavy snow forced al-Qaida holdouts to retreat into mountainous caves of eastern Afghanistan over the weekend. According to Bryan Hilferty of the 10th Mountain Division: “They’re hunkered down...and it’s hard to see where they are”. Despite adverse weather conditions, the U.S. military offensive continues to move forward with clearing out of caves and land mines.
