Women's soccer signs four to letters of intent

Penn State women's soccer head coach Paula Wilkins recently announced the signing of four student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. Amanda Brown (Manasquan, N.J.), Natalie Jacobs (Centreville, Va.), Carmelina Moscato (Mississauga, Ontario) and Tiffany Weimer (North Haven, Conn.) have all committed to play for Penn State beginning in the 2002 season.

Brown is a 5-8 goalkeeper from Wall High School. She was an all-state, all-shore and an all-county honoree during her junior and senior years. Brown was a member of the PDA Splash club team that earned a spot in the Region I Championship semifinals. She is a member of the Region I and New Jersey State Olympic Development Program (ODP) teams, and the Under-16 U.S. National Team pool.

A 5-5 defender out of Centreville High School, Jacobs earned All-Metro and all-district honors. A starter since her freshman year, she was the team's Most Valuable Player in 2000 and team Defensive Most Valuable Player in 1999. She a member of the Region I and Virginia State ODP squads, traveling to tournaments in France and Italy with the Region I team.

Moscato is a 5-8 midfield-forward and is a member of the U-19 and U-21 Canadian National Soccer Teams. She has played in international soccer tournaments including the Nordic Cup in Norway and the adidas Cup International Tournament in Houston, Texas. She helped the U-20 team to a gold medal in the 2001 Canada Games as team captain. Named Most Valuable Player of the St. Francis Xavier Secondary varsity team in Mississaugua, Ontario, she also played for the Burlington Flames club team.

Weimer comes to Penn State with a long list of credentials, including NSCAA All-America honors twice. A 5-4 midfielder hailing from North Haven, Conn., she was a member of the North Haven High School team for four years. An all-conference selection all four years, Weimer was also selected all-state and All-New England, and was named Parade All-American after her senior year. She led the Indians to the conference tournament semifinals and Class L state semifinals in 2001.
