Dare was present at the Big Ten Indoor track and field championships at the University of Minnesota, where his son, Kevin Dare, a sophomore member of the Penn State track team, was killed in a tragic accident.

After the University Faculty Senate passed a calendar recommendation on Tuesday that would remove fall break, some students say they are upset with the recommendation.

Looking at the role of spiritualism in the face of hatred, an Emmy-nominated producer showed a portion of a Holocaust documentary last night.


The School of Visual Arts holds the exhibition annually to recognize outstanding work done by undergraduate students.

At least 115 Penn State students are looking forward to working for Habitat for Humanity's spring break program, which will allow them travel to the southern United States and build homes for needy families.

While some students are preparing to spend spring break traveling to exotic places to relax in the sun, others are gearing up to spend the week helping less fortunate people in other parts of the country and world.

Programs and speakers came to Penn State campus yesterday to celebrate TRIO programs, which are designed to help students of different ages meet their educational goals.

TFA is a national corps of recent college graduates from all majors who commit to teach for two years in urban and rural public schools in economically depressed areas.

After paying for books, food, rent and spring break getaways, some students are hurting for cash. Instead of asking parents to get them out of the red, many are making money on their own.

Although spring break is anticipated by many students, vacationers also need to think about certain safety issues that could possibly put a damper on their trip, local authorities and travel agents say.

The Penn State women's golf team kicked off its spring 2002 season this past Monday and Tuesday with a solid showing at the Carolina Collegiate Classic, finishing fifth overall in the 22-team field.

To most students spring break means a time of travel, relaxation, spending time with friends and no work. For members of the Penn State crew team, travel is still in mind but with work as a big part of it.


That's what Penn State soccer fans are hoping, as the men's team announced four high profile recruits last week: midfielders Michael Curran, David Walters and Brian Devlin and defender Paul Omekanda.

Former Penn State wrestling standouts Dick Lemyre and John Fritz will be inducted into the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) Hall of Fame on Mar. 10.

Alanis Morissette is not only making a comeback with her career, but she's doing something a little different this time around with her new album Under Rug Swept.

Dragonfly, Kevin Costner's newest film, tells the story of an emergency room doctor who believes that he is being contacted by his dead wife through her patients' near-death experiences.

He's recorded some of the most critically acclaimed albums in history. The punk and new wave movements wouldn't have happened without him. So it's probably not an overstatement to call Elvis Costello one of the most important rock musicians of all time.

Kasey Chambers is about as Southern as a country artist can get, albeit not in the traditional sense. Chambers plays American roots music, but she writes and records at home in southern Australia, not Nashville.

"The Best Ever Death Metal Band In Denton" just might be the best ever tribute to death metal on record.

Denzel Washington stars as John Q. Archibald, a big-hearted, blue-collar family man.
