As a student at Penn State for the past six years, I have learned to realize that Penn State worries more about how much research money it can generate, NOT the quality of its student's education. While I am tempted to rejoice each time one of my classes is canceled, which seems to happen quite frequently, I remind myself that I am paying thousands of dollars for an education that is supposed to be preparing me for the workforce. Shouldn't the Faculty Senate be setting guidelines to require more office hours rather than reducing the amount of time they have to spend teaching us unimportant students? It is time that Penn State remembers its original purpose, to educate.
