Letter to the Editor
Animals rights activist doesn't mean anti-kids

I think it is a fair assumption that I would agree with the statement, "Kill the kids, save the animals." In fact I think I may use that as a motto for the animal rights movement. It is absolutely asinine to say that I must "hate humans and love animals." Ford and Schriver should not be so quick to judge. I have in fact dealt with the detrimental effects of cancer within my own family.

No, I have never walked down the halls of children's hospital and heard the cries of cancer patients. I also bet that Ford and Schriver have never walked through a cancer research lab that conducts animal testing and heard the desperate cries of lab rats fighting for their last breath because they have intentionally been injected with cancer cells.

I'm sure most people would not want their precious family pet, who is most likely considered a member of the family, to be exposed to such treatment. So how can it possibly be believed that the testing of lab rats and other animals is acceptable? Although, it eases my mind to know that there are other individuals in the world such as Jon Grindell, who still have a sense of compassion.

So continue wearing your leather jackets with the fur trim and I will continue my fight against animal cruelty because my priorities are just fine.
