Letter to the Editor
Female violence must be talked about often

Several of my fellow Vagina Monologue cast members have written to the Collegian these past weeks.

I think their words have been powerful and true to the idea of "The Vagina Monologues." I want to add my two cents about a specific comment made by Amber Pawlik, from the Independent Women's Club — the statement that The Vagina Monologues make women into victims.

Talking about the indisputable rape of women in society is not victimizing them. It is simply raising awareness that women are already victims. If such atrocities are not talked about, then how can one know they exist?

It saddens me that some people still doubt that there are problems in this society concerning the rights of women (and also other minorities, while we're at it).

However, the misinformation given by Bill Blase and his denial that problems for women exist, prove that there needs to be further education.

Moreover, do not lobby for silencing the truth. It will lead to a society of ignorance, unless you truly believe that ignorance is bliss.
