Letter to the Editor
Men should contribute to raising children too

While I agree with Brian Blase in that the conservative viewpoint is often ignored on college campuses (especially in the Collegian) I cannot agree with other conclusions he draws.

Based on his latest column one would think that the only change in our society in the last fifty years would be an increased number of women in the workforce and that fact alone is responsible for the decline of all western civilization.

I'm sure the statistics he cited on teen suicide rates and STD transmission are caused by a variety of complicated factors, not just the fact that mom decided to go out and help provide for the family. And even if both parents working outside the home is a cause for a downward trend in the quality of youth's lives, why should mothers who go to work get all the blame? A father is just as capable of staying at home and raising a family.

Perhaps Mr. Blase needs to think a little more critically of himself before he submits his next column.
