Jean Kilbourne will deliver a presentation on "The Naked Truth: Advertising's Image of Women" at 7 tonight in the HUB Alumni Hall.
Kilbourne became a widely recognized media critic through her Killing Us Softly films about women in advertising.
Her presentation will explore the connections between images in the media and actual problems in society, including violence, rape and sexual harassment, sexual abuse of children, eating disorders, teenage pregnancies, pornography and censorship.
Kilbourne is well known for her work in exploring the image of women in advertising, as well as for her work on alcohol and tobacco advertising.
Her appearance is sponsored by the Eating Issues/Body Awareness Team and University Health Services, and is co-sponsored by several other campus organizations.
