Is this student body asleep? Wake up! We were all accepted to this university because of our potential and our intelligence.
We read in The Daily Collegian, at least once a week, of the despicable acts of the USG Senate, yet we fail to do anything about it! All right, not funding the rape cards yet funding a trip that would benefit numerous members of the senate seemed a little bit shady but maybe they had reasons that let them get away with it.
Then there was the decision to censor Justin Zartman. Last I checked Justin Zartman was the USG President -- Heaven forbid he speaks! Perhaps that too is a loophole the Senate found. But any even-minded person should be able to see that it is not a coincidence that the "conservative coalition" makes up two-thirds of the senate when they find sneaky, depraved ways of getting their people in. Who, besides power-hungry people would feel that deviously promising a senate seat to someone is OK? That, along with changing the campaigning and voting regulations, gives Jason Covener, Sean Clark, and their "coalition" the ability to keep the power that they cheaply gained.
Well, Penn State, why are we sitting back and letting this happen? Why aren't we in those senate meetings demanding reform and credibility in our Undergraduate Student Government?
Why are we letting the people who say they represent us use slimy, conniving and deceitful tactics to further their own agenda? Penn State students, wake up and demand change!
