Where is your support for the students who have been working tirelessly for the past year to raise funds for Thon? You have given more publicity and more negativity to the minority of opinions (called sour grapes) of students apparently not involved in the daily, weekly, monthly and yearly planning and organizational commitments of getting the 30th Dance Marathon up and running "for the kids."
Do you print anyone's opinions or do you insist that these opinions are backed up by facts? These Penn State students have not only given of themselves and given their time but they also freely give up their own money to further the cause of Thon.
Their parents in many cases, also support them, cheering them on from the sidelines both in body, spirit and monetarily all "for the kids". Until you walk in their shoes please don't judge them; you can help them by supporting them in their valiant efforts.
Of all the student activities I have had the privilege to witness in my daughter's four years at Penn State this has to be one of the most fulfilling, altruistic and noble causes that the students of Penn State have rallied behind. Instead of criticizing, the Penn State community should be supporting this unique and worthwhile endeavor.
It will be our pleasure to join the many supporters in State College for the 30th Thon weekend not only in body but also monetarily and as a corporate sponsor.
Thank you Penn State Thon students -- keep up your spirits -- the kids need you.
