Ad misses the point of The Vagina Monologues

I want to thank YAF's subsidiary, the Independent Woman's Forum for the only publicity in the Collegian for the Vagina Monologues yesterday.

The "Free Cupid!" ad asks me the question, does shethink.org? In moderate defiance, I visited the site only to find a heartfelt pity for these women. In an article on the site entitled, "Outrage of the Week," the author (a SheThinks staff member that does not think to disclose his or her name) attacks Eve Ensler describing her as "P.T. Barnum deploying raunchy metaphors and stories of oppression instead of smoke and mirrors." These are not "stories" or tall tales, these are real interviews, real people brought to life before an audience. The unknown author proceeds to misinterpret the play describing the moral as, "men are bad and inherently violent." This confirms the fact the author has never seen the performance. There are monologues in which men are celebrated.

True, they are few and far between, but the monologues are not about men. They are to glorify women and to raise awareness that these "stories," as "raunchy" as one may take them, are true.

I would like to cordially invite the Independent Woman's Forum to the show. I highly doubt many of your members have ever experienced the show and it is evident they are the one's who would most benefit.
