The two-day event, Sones de la Calle: Latina/o Popular Culture and Politics will draw to a close today with two speeches and discussions.
In the Grucci Poetry Room of Burrowes Building at noon there will be an informal discussion titled "Migration, Neo-liberalism, and Latin America" featuring Latin writers and poets. Those attending are encouraged to bring their lunch with them to the discussion.
In the Foster Auditorium at Pattee Library at 3 p.m. Juan Flores will give a speech on "Nueva York, Diaspora City: Latinos Between and Beyond." Flores is a professor of Black and Puerto Rican studies at Hunter College and is the author of several books.
The events are sponsored by the departments of English, Comparative Literature, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese and the University Libraries.
