WEATHER
[ Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002 ]

Today's University Park forecast
partly cloudy Sunny skies and seasonal temperatures will prevail across Pennsylvania during the next few days. A large area of high pressure will slowly track eastward allowing winds to become more southwesterly. This will allow milder air to return to the region on Friday. The next round of precipitation will occur this weekend as a disturbance crosses the state Friday night. Temperatures will cool slightly behind the system, and a few snow showers are possible during the day on Sunday.

Highlight

Bitterly cold outbreaks in Pennsylvania have been rare this winter. The lowest temperature recorded so far in the commonwealth was Kane at -2 degrees. In State College, the lowest temperature so far this season has been only 13 degrees. If this stands throughout the remainder of the winter season, this will turn out to be the highest minimum temperature recorded for a season since records began.
