A recent study discovered what many might have already suspected: The time considered to be the best of a student's life can be much more difficult than traditionally imagined.

It's Valentine's Day, often a time to spend quality private time with sweethearts. But when a college student decides to woo that special someone with an evening filled with roses and soft lighting so it will be a night to remember, there can be one thing standing in the way of the perfect night -- the roommates.

The Undergraduate Student Government Senate has changed its internal structure by making amendments to its bylaws during Tuesday night's meeting.

Voters can now exercise fingertip access to the American political process thanks to a new Web site that encourages a wide array of constituent participation.

Downtown State College might seem a little more metropolitan these days. Along with the spicy urban styles sold at the women's apparel store, Metro, 320 E. College Ave., another taste of the big city, Starbucks coffee, is now being sold.

The voyeurism has not reached the level of paparazzi hiding in trees and snapping photographs, but Sue Paterno is by no means living in a sheltered world.

Penn State emerged from Rec Hall victorious in straight sets (30-27, 30-14, 30-15) last night, extending its winning streak to eight matches.

For a while, it looked like it would be The Reggie Evans Show last night at the Bryce Jordan Center. But the last three minutes it turned into The Tyler Smith Show as Penn State defeated the Iowa Hawkeyes, 71-65.

The Spartans (15-9, 5-8 Big Ten) are coming to town to take on the Lady Lions (16-9, 8-4) in what figures to be a tough Valentine's Day showdown tonight at 7 at The Bryce Jordan Center.

Three are walk-ons who will not dress the next day, and are getting all they can out of their time on the basketball court. However, the fourth is senior captain Tyler Smith.

With seniors ready to graduate, fresh bodies are required to keep the Penn State football juggernaut moving.

Potteiger and Villar, both members of the Penn State men's soccer team, were selected in the 2002 Major League Soccer Super Draft on Sunday, becoming the first Nittany Lions to be chosen in MLS history.

The Nittany Lions enter this season with a plethora of questions. Many players are moving to new positions or taking over the starting role that they backed up last year. However, the biggest question may be how freshman Mike Milliron and Clint Eury will fair at the corners this season.

ARTS

This year, Penn Staters will get to view Cassidy's updated version of his play, entitled The Penis Monologues II: The Second Coming.

Denials, Delusions and Decisions. Jaguar Wright couldn't have titled her debut any better -- all three of those D's play a prominent role on the album.

Listen to singer/songwriter Shannon McNally's debut album, Jukebox Sparrows, and you get the feeling she's not new.

After being released in theaters to generally rave reviews, last weekend Ghost World became available to rent or to own. The DVD, as far as features go, is rather under whelming.

Nine Inch Nail's Trent Reznor is known to tinker and perfect his dark industrial records for years, but on his newest album, And All That Could Have Been, he plays to the crowd without the layers of sound that cover the depth of his songs.

Halfway through the film Rollerball, I wanted to get up and leave, but I suffered through it so I could tell you not to.

I Am Sam is a glorified TV movie.
