Senate acts for self, not university students
I am writing in response to the recent actions of our Undergraduate Student Government. In a Collegian article last Thursday, Senate President Sean Clark said, "I'm not having the administration tell us what we can and cannot do, especially when I believe our actions are reasonable." Mr. Clark, it does not matter if you think they are reasonable; they are university policy. The computer rules are only in place to protect the student body, and apparently they're doing better than the people we have elected to do that job. This is my first year at Penn State and I can't believe how alike our student government is to that government system. Our senate will only do things in its own interest and silence the student body president we have elected to be our leader so no one can oppose them. As far as I have seen, Justin Zartman is the only person that has done everything totally in the students' interest. I feel like we have no one to defend our rights, and I look forward to when the new senators are elected, or when our current senators start thinking of the students instead of themselves.
