Good Schools Pennsylvania has established the Jonathan Kozol Student Essay Contest in honor of author Jonathan Kozol, who has written several books about disparity in public education.
Students should focus their essays on what contest founders call the "inadequate and inequitable system of funding public education in Pennsylvania." The essays should compare and contrast opportunities available to students in various school districts.
The deadline for essay submissions is March 1. The top essay writers will receive cash prizes, presented by Mr. Kozol in Harrisburg in April.
