Today's University Park forecast

partly cloudy Clouds will linger over Happy Valley throughout much of today due to a low pressure system that is currently tracking through southeastern Canada. Skies will clear tonight as high pressure builds across much of the eastern United States, which will provide for mostly sunny conditions tomorrow. This pleasant weather will be short-lived, however, as a storm approaching from the west will bring clouds and the chance of snow back into the forecast on Friday.

Highlight

Although gusty conditions have forced the delay of some Winter Olympic events over the past few days, Utah is no stranger to high winds. On this day in weather history in 1988, areas in the Wasatch mountains reported gusts of over 106 miles per hour. Aside from closing down lifts at nearby ski resorts, the stiff winds contributed to a 40 car pile-up on nearby Interstate 15.
