Expecting large crowds of lovebirds on Valentine's Day, some State College restaurants are making changes to their menus and seating arrangements, encouraging prospective date-goers to make reservations rather than wait in long lines.

State College and the surrounding community came out in full force last night to vocally — and financially — support the proposed unveiling of a new downtown performing arts center.

After Gov. Mark Schweiker announced his state budget proposal one week ago, legislators and Penn Staters alike began finalizing their arguments for the next stage of the budget process: appropriations hearings.

With this year's state budget process beginning, local Pennsylvania legislators are preparing their responses to Gov. Mark Schweiker's proposal.

Last night, at the State College Borough work session, the council excitedly discussed ways to improve pedestrian-traffic safety in downtown State College.

With the creation of a multicultural curriculum a major issue facing the university, John Nichols, university faculty senate chairman, met with the Undergraduate Student Government Academic Assembly last night to discuss the issue.

Robin Becker, professor of English and women's studies, will speak from 7 to 9 tonight in the second floor meeting room of the Schlow Memorial Library, 100 E. Beaver Ave.

Drumming will intend to ward off evil spirits during today's Lunar New Year Dragon Dance Parade, and red and gold envelopes stuffed with golden chocolate coins symbolizing prosperity will be distributed.

The Delta Sigma Theta sorority is sponsoring a series of events for "Dynamic Delta Week 2002," in conjunction with Black History Month.

The Penn State men's basketball team continues to struggle with a 6-17 overall record (2-9 in the Big Ten) and has been mathematically assured of finishing the season with a losing record.

This season Penn State's pitchers and catchers will have something else in common -- they will be trying to establish themselves in a reshuffled staff.

While thousands of people gambled at the Mirage, the Bellagio and all of Las Vegas's casinos, approximately 100 of the nation's top gymnasts were competing at the All-American Sports Park for two spots on the U.S. National gymnastics team at the 2002 Winter Cup Challenge last weekend.

Every team meets a few crossroads during their season. After a 96-81 defeat at the hands of Iowa on Sunday afternoon, the Lady Lions women's basketball squad may have come to one of those crossroads

The Penn State Lady Icers sent their RSVP to the national tournament with style this weekend.

The bubble is about to burst. Tonight, No. 19 Illinois will invade East Lansing to take on Michigan State.

The Penn State women's indoor track team has steamrolled through their 2002 schedule winning all three of their meets. This weekend however, the Lions were snapped back to reality by an overpowering team from The University of Indiana.

In diving, one miscalculation can take you from a first place finish to a 25th place finish.

Penn State women's basketball standout Kelly Mazzante has been named one of 20 finalists to win the Naismith College Basketball Player of the Year Award.

The Penn State Ice Lions won two of three during the weekend in ACHA Div. II ice hockey action.

Penn State women's soccer players Bonnie Young and Emily Oleksiuk were selected in Monday's Women's United Soccer Association Draft.
