The Penn State baseball team announced its co-captains for the upcoming 2002 season. Seniors Mike Watson (Altoona, Pa) and Chris Wright (State College, Pa) return after solid junior campaigns.
Watson, a right-handed pitcher, returns after notching three wins in 45.0 innings of work last season.
Wright is back for his senior season after hitting .302 with 13 home runs and 56 RBI in 2001. The starting third baseman a year ago will make the switch back to the outfield where he was All-Big Ten in 2000.
The Nittany Lions will open the 2002 season on Feb. 16 when they travel to Norfolk State to take on the Spartans. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
