Long found guilty for aggravated assault

Mark Long, 26, was found guilty Tuesday for aggravated assault and failure to disperse from the March 24, 2001 disturbance in Beaver Canyon, according to a press release from Centre County District Attorney Ray Gricar.

The riot followed the Penn State men's basketball team's loss to Temple in the NCAA tournament. Long was arrested on Beaver Avenue after refusing to leave the area. In custody at the Penn State Police Services Station, Long head-butted a police officer, according to the release.

Long does not attend Penn State and was working locally as a bartender at Red Lobster on the night of the riot. He is scheduled for sentencing on March 18 when Gricar will ask that Long is imprisoned in a state correctional institution, according to the release.
