The Conservative Political Action Conference, a forum for conservatives to discuss current issues and events, started Thursday and ended Saturday. There were speakers, roundtable discussions, conservative "think-tanks" and right-wing publications available.

Penn State women's basketball coach Rene Portland won her 500th game as a Lady Lion yesterday in Columbus, Ohio, as Penn State (15-8, 7-3 Big Ten) trounced Ohio State (10-12, 5-6 Big Ten), 95-62.

The No. 4 Penn State men's gymnastics team saw this come true as they upset the No. 2 University of Illinois, 215.600-213.950, to improve to 10-0 on the season.


The Iowa Hawkeyes, on the strength of a Reggie Evans double-double, 18 points and 13 rebounds, defeated Penn State 81-64 on Saturday in the Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

After starting 1-2 this season, the Penn State men's volleyball team has won four matches in a row, including two key wins at the NCAA Preview Tournament this weekend.

On Friday night the gamble paid off and the Nittany Lions (5-7, Big Ten 2-1) were victorious as they upended Northwestern (7-9, Big Ten 0-4), 25-15.

The most anticipated showdown of the season pitted the No. 1 ACHA Div. I Icers against No. 2 Delaware in two tough, physical and emotional battles.

Saturday afternoon the Lions took on Illinois in their only Big Ten matchup of the regular season -- allowing them some practice for the Big Ten Championships on March 23.

The No. 1 ACHA Div. I Icers' (22-2-1) improved execution of these three areas of the game led to a 3-1 victory against No. 2 Delaware on Saturday, after they had dropped a 3-2 decision to the Blue Hens (20-4-1) on Friday.

The No. 20 Nittany Lions (5-3, 1-1 Big Ten), racing in front of a home crowd for the final time this season, gained their fifth straight win over Rutgers Saturday (7-3, 6-1), 157-84.

The Penn State women's swimming team (7-3, 3-1 Big Ten) was able to give its seniors a victorious send-off. The Nittany Lions surged to a 133-103 win Saturday at McCoy Natatorium.

The Lions came into this meet the highest-ranked of the Big Ten teams and were ranked as the No. 2 seed in the National Power Rankings.

The undefeated Penn State women's indoor track team won easily against Princeton and Pennsylvania on Saturday, taking first place in two out of every three contests.

Ms. Jackson's All For You tour added a flavor to the Bryce Jordan Center on Friday night that left a provocative taste in audience members' mouths.

For the superstitious of the world, 02/02/02 hardly brought any signs of good luck -- unless some consider six more weeks of winter a blessing.

This year for some reason or another it wasn't just a Pennsylvania team missing from the Bowl but quality commercials as well.

African flags shook with the sound of rhumba music and children wearing dashikis danced between the crowded tables. It was "Touch of Africa 2002: Celebrating the heart of Africa. . .Recognizing Africa's women."
