NEWS

A 23-year-old Pennsylvania woman and a 23-year-old male, who is a former Penn State student, were arraigned yesterday on multiple charges of involvement with the suspected multi-million dollar drug ring that operated in State College during the 1998 to 1999 school year.

Rap, race and reality with a dash of technology was Chuck D's recipe for discussion last night as the rapper spoke to students at Eisenhower Auditorium as part of the Distinguished Speaker Series.

Not for Penn State, but other colleges have implemented co-ed dorms.

Concerns of privacy and identity theft are prompting Penn State to reconsider the use of Social Security numbers as student identification numbers.

When a student writes his or her Social Security number, that information might be used for purposes other than grading and identification. If the information makes it into the wrong hands, it could become a case of identity theft.

The Undergraduate Student Government Senate clarified its own computer and network security policy at last night's meeting.

A 24-year-old self-proclaimed "world traveler" from England was charged with allegedly entering the apartment of three female Penn State students yesterday morning.

Several student-run events, many of them multicultural in theme, are being either cancelled or dramatically changed due to the new food policy adopted by management of the HUB-Robeson Center that will not allow home-cooked food to be served on campus anymore.

Students can now apply to live in the new West Campus Graduate Housing facilities, which will be open for the Fall 2002 Semester. Applications are available in 101 Shields Building. The housing contracts require a $100 deposit.

The newly formed Student Advisory Board of the Center for Ethics and Religious Affairs will host its first social event tonight.

The Penn State men's volleyball team must look forward to playing St. Francis. With a three game sweep (30-23, 30-22, 30-26) of the Red Flash last night at Rec Hall, the Nittany Lions (3-2) improved their all-time record against St. Francis (4-3) to a perfect 9-0.

The Penn State men's basketball team will take to the road again tonight at 8 p.m. as it faces Minnesota in the Williams Arena. This game is the middle game of a brutal three-game swing that will end in Iowa on Saturday.

For many, Jess Brungo was seen as a possible scoring partner for Kelly Mazzante, creating a feared offensive tandem for the next three seasons.

Teacher, student, and musician are just a few of the roles that the Penn State Div. II men's ice hockey head coach Mo Stroemel plays. He has been leading the Ice Lions on and off the rink since 1994, and he continues to be inspired by the game itself.

The Penn State wrestling team suffered a major loss in its home opener despite winning 26-9 over Indiana on Sunday at Rec Hall.

What price should one be willing to pay in order to help build a program by getting it national exposure? That was the question that faced Michigan State coach Joanne McCallie when she was working on the Spartans' schedule for this year.

The hype was huge. The fans were rowdy. The players were fired up. But all the University of Buffalo (6-9-1) and its fans got was an education.

Former Penn State football standouts Kim Herring and Tyoka Jackson will be on the field during Super Bowl XXXVI, making it the 32nd time in Super Bowl history a Penn State alumus has played for the NFL title.
