Today's University Park forecast
cloudy
Southwesterly winds will continue to bring unseasonably warm temperatures to our area through mid week. Clouds filtering from the southwest will thicken in advance of a low pressure system developing in the southern plains. As the storm moves toward the region, moisture will be drawn up from the Gulf of Mexico and produce rain by week’s end. In the wake of this system, temperatures will return to more winter-like levels.

Highlight

On this day in 1983, storms that had been plaguing the Pacific coastline came to an end. These storms produced swells that reached heights of up to 15 to 20 feet and caused damage to several beaches in Southern California. These storms were a result of the weather phenomenon "El Nino," which is the abnormal warming of waters in part of the Pacific Ocean.
