Three former Penn State students were arraigned yesterday on charges that link them to a drug ring suspected of distributing an estimated 98,000 Ecstasy pills and 56 ounces of cocaine in State College and through the fraternity system.

It was almost 9 p.m., an hour after the show was supposed to start, when the lights finally dimmed and the jam-packed auditorium roared with anticipation. A moment later, a man strolled out casually onto the stage.

Significant budget overruns may result in the reduction of bus service for off-campus students, the Centre Area Transportation Authority Board of Directors said yesterday.

After a year in which he led the Penn State men's volleyball team in blocks (118), was third on the team in attacks (473) and kills per game (2.70), senior John Mills is missing from the court.

John Amaechi prefers to live his life according to principle. The former Penn State basketball star and current Utah Jazz forward has seen the road of life take him on several twists and turns in his 31 years.

After a sixth place finish out of six at the SEC Challenge and a home loss to an unranked Denver team, along with a multitude of injuries, the squad was left with the job of trying to fix mistakes and find any way to succeed.

The losses are mounting, the frustration is building, and the team's lack of experience is hard to ignore. However, the Penn State men's basketball team has managed to keep from completely falling apart thanks to resilience and good team chemistry.

The last few games have been a transformation of sorts for the Penn State women's basketball team. Weaknesses that had kept the team from winning earlier this season became major strengths during those games.


There aren't many coaches in any Big Ten sport that don't constantly refrain to his players and the media that any team in the conference can beat any other team in the conference on any given day.

Losing two of three matches at the Outrigger Invitational is not what the Penn State men's volleyball team expected.

Penn State junior Mike DeRenzo was named preseason All-Big Ten by Baseball America in its 2002 preseason issue.

Freshman Erin Mulshenock was named the women's Big Ten Swimmer of the Week. It is the second week in a row a Nittany Lion has won the award.

Smoking can be a difficult habit to break, but University Health Services hopes to aid students to do just that.
