Chuck D to speak at Eisenhower tonight

Chuck D, leader of the hip-hop group Public Enemy, will speak at 8 tonight at Eisenhower Auditorium.

Chuck D, a central figure in the rap and hip-hop scene during the late '80s and throughout the '90s, is known for his politically charged lyrics on race and inequality. Chuck D co-founded Public Enemy in 1982 and later gained fame when the group released the album It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back.

He also has worked as a producer and author and has presented lectures at universities around the country. He most recently garnered attention with his support for MP3s and alternative distribution of music.

The speech is the fourth in the Distinguished Speakers Series and is free to the public, although tickets are required.

They will be available today for the next speech in the series at Eisenhower Auditorium, where Washington Post journalist Bob Woodward will speak at 8 p.m. next Tuesday.
