Racial tensions, issues need public discussion

I was very puzzled at the commentary in the Friday Daily Collegian letters by Stephanie Falcone and Eric Swankoski attacking one person. If you truly understand diversity issues why not share what you think you know with the public at large.

On Saturday, April 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Mount Nittany Middle School, the National Public Interest Forum will host a dialogue on racial tensions in the community. Please come out and learn about or share other ideas for the causes of the real racial tensions rather than the artifically perceived ones that are usually out of context without support for the arguments.

In the same opinion section, Robert Moody gave another viewpoint for consideration. Most race issues have a deeper context that needs to be discussed from multiple perspectives. Why were there no other minority groups at your student government meeting, or is that not the case?
