A Penn State expert will lead a discussion of "zero tolerance" drug and weapon policies in public schools today.
Jacqueline A. Stefkovich, head of the education policy studies department, will discuss the issues at noon in the Faculty Staff Club on the lower level of the Nittany Lion Inn.
Stefkovich will address how the policies can promote safety, as well as how they can create an overall atmosphere of intolerance.
She has written about the relationship between law and education, most often on students' rights relating to search and seizure.
The club-account lunch price is $7 for full hot buffet or $5.50 for light buffet. Non-members will be charged an additional $2.
Faculty and staff can reserve a space by contacting the club manager, Tammy Homan, at 865-8563 before 11 a.m. today.
