Penn State celebrates MLK Day
Students and community members met at different locations yesterday to participate in a day of service to commemorate civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Classes weren't canceled, but some students were encouraged to take part in activities by getting excused absences from their professors. Billed as a "day on" rather than a "day off," the MLK day of service events focused on the various forms social activism can take in our community. King's oldest child Yolanda said her father would have liked the way Penn State ran the day of service in her keynote speech last night.
