The Penn State women's indoor track team will look to build on their season opening win when they compete in the Doug Raymond Invitational tomorrow. The squad will be matched up against host school Kent State as well as West Virginia and other schools. The Nittany Lions were victorious in the US Coaches Association Series Meet last weekend, narrowly defeating Seton Hall.
If the Lions hope to make it two in a row, they will need a good day from their throwers, especially Ja'nai O'Conner. O'Conner set the Penn State record in the shotput last weekend, and finished in the top five in the 20 pound weight toss.
Tomorrow's meet will be highly competitive, with Penn State looking to avenge a seven-point loss to Kent State last season. Nittany Lion assistant coach Tonya Lee coached the Golden Flashes three years ago and knows how quickly their program is coming along.
"They are becoming a pretty solid team," Lee said. "They have been building for a couple of years and they are good all around."
