Letter to the Editor
In the Abu-Jamal case, 'little' evidence adds up

In a recent letter, Jeff Martin defended Mumia Abu-Jamal. I thought I'd take the opportunity to describe the facts of the case to clear up any misconceptions. Mumia was found at the crime scene 40 seconds after the shooting with the murder weapon, a gun registered in his name, nearby. Four witnesses saw Jamal commit the murder and identified him to the police shortly after the shooting. A witness saw Mumia stand over Officer Faulkner after he had shot him in the back and saw Mumia shoot Officer Faulkner in the face from a foot away. When police arrived on the scene Mumia tried to pick up his gun too.

Mr. Martin describes that evidence as "little," but it seems from his article he doesn't know the facts of the case and is trying to divert people's attention from the facts with emotional hot buttons such as the KKK and racism. Mumia Abu-Jamal is, as Jared Doyle stated, "undoubtedly guilty" of killing an officer of the law. Hopefully, we can help Officer Faulkner's family end its 21-year nightmare by doing what 12 jurors decided should be done and end Mumia Abu-Jamal's life.
