The Penn State Ice Lions and the Kentucky Cool Cats battled into overtime twice during the weekend in ACHA Div. II ice hockey action. Penn State could not secure a victory, however, as they departed Lexington on Sunday with a tie and a loss.
In game one, Ice Lion forward J.T. D'Alessandro scored with one second remaining in regulation to tie the contest at 2-2. Both teams could not score in overtime leaving both teams with a tie.
In game two, D'Alessandro led the Lions with two more goals, but Kentucky edged the Ice Lions 5-4 in overtime. Goaltender Brian Gratz started both games for Penn State. The Ice Lions fall to an overall record of 8-10-1 with a tenth place ranking in the ACHA Northeast Conference. The Ice Lions will travel north this weekend to challenge No. 8 Central Connecticut State University and No. 3 S.U.N.Y.-Stony Brook.
