Today's University Park forecast
cloudyUnsettled weather will be the rule through the weekend as a series of weak disturbances traverses the region. The first such disturbance will pass to our south on Friday allowing only a few showers to sneak north into Happy Valley. A northwesterly wind will trail the system keeping temperatures around normal and also locking in mostly cloudy skies for the first weekend of the semester. The next system from Canada could impact our weather later on Sunday, however any precipitation will be light.

Highlight

Officials at this year’s winter olympics can rest easy after a slow start to Utah’s snowfall. Early in the season, few flakes were in sight as the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City refused to issue a long term snowfall forecast for the games. However, since Thanksgiving, nearly 250 inches of snow has fallen in the mountain ski resorts outside of Salt Lake City leaving plenty of winter to support each and every event of the games.
