PSU names Consortium, Industrial directors

Penn State named several new directors this week.

Tanna Pugh was named director of Penn State's Industrial Research Office yesterday. The IRO serves as a liaison between companies, university faculty and research centers and is a part of the Office of the Vice President for Research.

Pugh previously served as IRO acting director and associate director. She received a degree in chemical engineering from Penn State and joined the IRO in 1997.

Penn State professors William Easterling and David DeWalle were named director and associate director, respectively, of the Environmental Consortium. The consortium promotes the university's environmental research, education and outreach programs.

Easterling, professor of geography and earth system science, is an internationally known researcher on the interactions of global environmental change, food security and environmental conservation. DeWalle, professor of forest hydrology, is an expert on snow hydrology.

The two men will collaborate on program development and daily management of the consortium.
