Thousands of sparkling lights covered the houses and lawns of 25 fraternities as they vied for the title of most holiday spirit.

The 23-year-old former Penn State student who pleaded guilty to entering the dorm rooms of 12 female students and indecently assaulting six of the women in September 2000, was sentenced to serve 11 1/2 months in county prison Tuesday, and could still face deportation.

Beginning next semester, students riding the Centre Area Transportation Authority's Centre Line will need an extra quarter to make it to destinations outside of the downtown area.

C-Net decided to move from its offices in the James Building to the State College Borough Municipal Building. Since it would no longer use Penn State accommodations, C-Net asked Penn State to pay for the programming.

It's the season for long lines, holiday music and that one person who's impossible to find a gift for. There are, however, many popular gift items this season that might be ideal for that person.

McKee contacted Penn State and was introduced to Distance Education and the World Campus. It is a program that offers planned learning opportunities outside of the traditional classroom setting.

The State College Police Department has advice for jeep owners: be careful. The State College area sees a large number of break-ins, particularly among soft-top jeeps, police said.

As off-campus students finish classes, study for exams and get packed up to head home for winter break, they need to remember to take care of their apartments as well.

Yesterday afternoon, in a darkened room in Engineering Unit C, audience members wearing 3-D glasses watched as architecture students presented their final projects by leading tours through virtual designs of their buildings.

As the holiday season rolls around, some penny-pinching shoppers will be digging up old gift certificates to make their purchases.

The State College chapter of the American Red Cross will sponsor a blood drive today in memory of Penn State student Shellie Smarowsky

Engineering students will have a chance to show off their solutions to real-world engineering problems from 1 to 3 p.m. tomorrow during the Learning Factory Project Showcase at the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel.

PENNDOT issued a traffic alert today for the Route 26/I-99 construction project in Centre County. The Route 322 westbound off-ramp to Innovation Park and Penn State University will be closed from 7 a.m. Saturday through 6 a.m. Dec. 17.

People that regularly attend Penn State women's soccer games have seen it. Christie Welsh scowling, looking dour, giving her best Allen Iverson mug to refs after she's absorbed yet another bruise or felt a few more stitches give way in her jersey.

The Nittany Lions (2-4) picked up their second victory last night at the Bryce Jordan Center with a 61-48 victory over Lehigh (0-7), conference mates with Lafayette, the only other team the Lions have beaten this season.

The will to believe is as powerful a human characteristic as there is. It is a right held sacred in every accord as not only important, but essential to the very way we live as humans.

Who walks around campus chomping on Twizzlers and eating icing right out of the container?

In 1989, the Michigan and Seton Hall men's basketball teams both met their peaks. They met in the NCAA championship in Seattle, and staged a spectacular match that was decided by two last second free throws by Wolverine point guard Rumeal Robinson.
