Abortion no easy choice for women in situation

This is in response to Brian Blase's column on abortion. There are a few things that I would like to address. First, Blase refers to the pro-choice argument as "stale and shallow." I have never heard a more stale argument than those pro-life advocates such as Blase use including the idea that abortion is a form of birth control. Labeling abortion as "birth control" allows pro-life advocates to trivialize and simplify one of the most complex and profound decisions a woman can make in her lifetime.

Whether or not a woman chooses to continue a pregnancy is not easy. If it were, then maybe he would be right in calling someone shallow. However, it is an indescribably difficult decision that you cannot fully comprehend unless placed in that situation. You, Mr. Blase, have no idea. Second, the question of when "life" begins depends on your definition of life and what you believe. Is it at conception as a few cells, or the presence of a functioning heart? There is no definitive answer.

And lastly, he states that those people who are pro-life have a "higher moral standing" than those who are pro-choice. That is a pompous, arrogant, and inaccurate statement. A person's stance on abortion is one of belief. Do not presume to classify half of the population on one complex and highly debatable issue.
