Students need days off during Fall Semester

The students of Penn State are about to have their opinions steamrolled by the administration. The Undergraduate Student Government Academic Assembly, the voice of the students on campus, has recently unanimously condemned implementation of the new fall calendar that eliminates fall break. Will this mean that the calendar might not be instituted? The answer is absolutely not. I was present at a recent Academic Assembly meeting where I heard an administrator say that, "Unless there was a significant student response" fall break would be eliminated.

Apparently, the student representatives unanimously condemning the calendar change and the president of USG saying that he has never heard more student opposition to a proposed change isn't considered "significant." Most students want fall break to remain so that they can go spend some time with their friends and loved ones. What's more, who is to say that students and teachers won't leave their classes before Thanksgiving break two or three days in advance with the new calendar in place, thereby preserving the telescoping effect that the university is so concerned about?
