For many people, childhood is full of memories of playground romps, cookies and milk, learning to share and, perhaps more importantly, television.
People have their favorite shows that they raced home from school and stayed up late to watch.
Many can identify with characters in these programs. Venues asked Penn State students, "Which character do you relate to from a TV show you watched as a kid?"
"I'm going with Rainbow Brite. She seems so outgoing and could solve all sorts of problems. When I was little, I liked to think I could do the same thing." -- Robin Gerling (freshman-agriculture and extension education)
"Fred Sanford. He was the best! He's lazy, a pessimist. He was a legitimate business owner . . . He had a kid named Lamont." -- Sub Mookerjee (senior-elementary education)
"Stephanie from Full House. I am the middle child too. She was different from her sisters in many ways, like me. She did things her parents disapproved of." -- Leng Lor (junior-biology)
"The Gummi Bears. They were always having a good time and bouncing around and stuff. I liked the fact that when people had their (Gummiberry Juice), they got strong instead of bouncing." -- Eric Meader (sophomore-computer science)
"Alex P. Keaton. I thought he was funny. I liked the way he was business oriented. I can identify with that." -- Al Young (senior-business)
"Batman. He's dark and mysterious." -- Maria Michetti (freshman-division of undergraduate studies)

"He-Man. He's a regular dude but he's got special powers. But he doesn't make anyone feel inferior around him. He can still hang. Until Skeletor pops up." -- Ross Milestone (junior-psychology)
"Strawberry Shortcake. I'm spunky and I always wanted a dog named Pupcake. And I had this friend and I called him Pupcake . . . He was a real person." -- Ali McNabb (freshman-nursing)
