Jason Covener and his detractors both have good points. True, rape is a problem, especially on a college campus. But Covener's point seemed to go missing. He was questioning the effectiveness of these cards. Another letter writer quoted the statistic that 70 percent of all rapes go unreported. My question, which I believe was Jason's question as well, is what percentage of that 70 percent failed to report being raped because they "forgot the number for the police?"
Stopping rape is a very noble and important cause, but I agree with Covener that the $700 could be spent in more effective ways.
