Derek Trucks band to play Crowbar tonight

The Derek Trucks Band will play today at 9 p.m. at Crowbar, 420 E. College Ave. The group features Derek Trucks, the 22-year-old guitar prodigy and nephew of Allman Brothers Band drummer Butch Trucks. Derek Trucks, who has also played onstage with artists such as Bob Dylan and Buddy Guy, has created a name for himself with his slide guitar playing and precocious talent.

Although known for Trucks' guitar-driven rock style, the group has gained fame for its various jazz covers, funky jams and extensive instrumental passages. The band also includes drummer Yonrico Scott, bassist Todd Smallie and keyboardist Bill McKay.

Tickets for the show are available and cost $10. The show begins at 9 p.m. and is for all ages.
