Raves not only venues for drugs and music

I am writing in response to State College Police Sgt. John Wilson's recent comment that to him, raves "seem pretty pointless." Raves are no different from any other music event in State College, except that the music happens to be electronic. Yes, there are some people who illegally use drugs at raves.

I saw more drug use, however, in one night at the Bob Dylan/Phil Lesh concert last year at The Bryce Jordan Center than I saw in an entire year of attending raves in State College. And no one ever talked about banning more than 40 rockers afterwards. Nor should they have, because attacking a form of music will not solve State College's drug problem.
