Drug death not a result of raves' atmosphere
Raves will not stop. I am a raver. I love electronic music. I go to raves. I work at raves. I know many ravers. Does that mean I am a druggie? Does that mean I cannot dance to the music I love with my friends without taking a pill? I am not a druggie, nor are my friends, peers and acquaintances. In fact, the only drug I take is the same one 90 percent of this campus does -- alcohol. And if you know alcohol, you know it dehydrates you, so it is stupid to drink while dancing anyway. Yes, the death of Stephanie Yau was very unfortunate. But has anyone done research on this "red superman pill?" If you did, you would find out that it contains no more than 10 percent MDMA (also known as Ecstasy). It contains about 90 percent Ketamine, which is a drug that kills often. Blaming ravers or Ecstasy is not the way to go. If you want more info, check out www.dancesafe.org. As for stopping raves in State College? Try it. People have died from drinking too much in State College before. Do the police stop bars from selling beer? Do they try to shut down distributors? Do not blame us because we may dress different, do not blame us because of the few people that do drugs. Ravers live by P.L.U.R.: Peace, Love, Unity and Respect. How many of you can say that?
