Refrigerator leak seals part of Beaver Avenue

At 1 p.m. on Friday, two fire engines and several trucks closed the corner of East Beaver Avenue and Pugh Street for about 20 minutes after a report of a smoke-like mist coming from The Brewery, 233 E. Beaver Ave.

The smoke was not a result of a fire, but instead a mist produced by a freon leak in one of The Brewery's refrigerators, said Alpha Fire Company. East Beaver Avenue was reopened after conditions appeared safe.

A call was made by Bob Nace, co-owner of Bob Nace Optician, 219 E. Beaver Ave., at about 12:30 when he noticed what he thought was smoke entering his shop.
