Letter to the Editor
Column doesn't follow the directions it gives

Unfortunately, Adam Kapp's column in yesterday's Collegian perpetuates the tactics it preaches against. We need to read into the second paragraph before we learn the editorial's true motives -- attacking conservatives.

Mr. Kapp applies second hand allegations with no validity and treats them as gospel in order to belittle the College Republicans. Our goals were to participate positively in the Penn State community.

These goals were achieved by the tremendous support we received from the parade watchers. Unfortunately, we did something good for the community and then were attacked simply because we are Republicans. Is it possible that the left is merely jealous of our successes? In a second point, Mr. Kapp states "it shouldn't matter if the members of the USG senate are also members of the College Republicans, or of the College Democrats." Then I ask, why does he constantly try to beat it into our heads that there are USG senators from College Republicans and Young Americans for Freedom?

All we are given is a huge contradiction that is blatantly one-sided. The world around is not apolitical, so why should students check their political ideologies at the door? This university is not totally communistic; we still have some free speech rights. We all want our governing bodies to work together, but blaming and singling out certain members will only harm future successes.
