The Penn State Opera Theatre will present scenes from various operas during its fall production Thursday through Nov. 17. Performances will begin at 8 p.m. in Esber Recital Hall, Music Building I.
The program includes scenes from Victoria Bond's new opera, Mrs. Satan. Bond is the artistic director of the Harrisburg Opera and the artistic adviser of China's Wuhan Symphony.
Mrs. Satan is the true story of Victoria Woodhull, the first woman to run for president, and her beliefs in the unity of the equality of the sexes. This reading of Mrs. Satan is staged by Susan Boardman, director of Opera Theatre at the university.
