Last week the U.S. Navy awarded Penn State's Applied Research Laboratory the largest and longest contract in the lab's 56-year history to develop submarine technology.
ARL will receive as much as $368.8 million during the first five years, beginning this month, with the option of nearly $445 million for another five years.
The Navy looks to ARL to provide engineering, research, development, and test and evaluation capabilities.
The Penn State lab has broad capabilities in undersea technology including guidance, control, simulation and modeling.
